I just saw this today. It says V-Tec in big letters on the side. Next to that is "2.5".

    It's a Nissan Sentra.

I think it was probably a running joke that this guy has going on with the public. Kinda like the Poor-Boy Racing Tempo that rolled around my town. They had magic-marker racing stripes, a wooden spoiler, 13 inch spinners . . . it was funny.

I wouldn't be so sure. Wayne has a Messican in the park with a Mercury Cougar. Not only does it have "VTEC" badges, but "turbo" badges as well. For fun, Wayne stopped by one day when the dude was outside, asks him to pop the hood, and asks him where the turbo is. Dude, in all seriousness, says "Yeah, eees TURBO." Wayne says "Yeah OK, where's the turbo?" "YEAH, EEEES TURBO! EEEES BEETEC!!!"

Oh. I also got "the look" from a guy today after I snapped that picture of the Sentra. He was in a Civic with chrome door-protectors, a big wing, 15 inch aftermarket wheels, blue lights, after-market hood . . . etc.

He pulled up next to me in the Miata at a stop sign on the way out of that parking lot on my way back to work. He just stared at me with a really serious look on his face. I think he was eyeing up the car and driver to see if it was worth spitting on. In all honesty, he probably would have whipped my ass if we tried to race.

---but I would have at least had him off the line!!!

ive seen a underbody light failure at an autocross as well..

Is there actually a rule outlawing them with the SCCA?

It's not enforced but after experiencing that little episode I wouldn't allow it at our autocrosses.

It would be like autocrossing with a glass body kit or cracked wheels or belts showing on your tires. Just waiting for something to happen. Not safe at all.

On the other hand what if the glass shards broke around a worker station? Glass would be flying at you, not a pretty sight.
