I bought some cheapo harbor freight ones that work well, but they leak and the mounts suck. Are there any quality ones that aren't as expensive as Kc but higher quality than harbor freight? I'm looking for something that is similar to the high beams in your car. Not a spot light, but not a flood type fog light either. Any suggestions would help!

I loved my Hella 550s. Only about 70 bucks for a set.

Ditto the above. Mine are in the fogs in my avatar, but they can be had either way and cast great light.

I have picked up used Hella 500's for $50.

I also bought a complete light bar with 2 Hella 700FF's and two Bosch (225's?) Fogs with 100W bulbs for $85.

    Watch classified's for decent lights.

Are the 550 round or rectangular? And some of the reviews mention them being a tight almost spot light... I want more of a flood light, but not really a fog light. Sort if like my hi beams on steroids... Also, there is hella, Kc, piaa, what other brands are there that are quality?

500's are round and 550's are rectangles.

Marchal lights can be found used cheap, usually taken off of older Fox Body GT's, don't know how they function. Logo is cool though.

Marchal's are some of the best quality lights you can buy. The cool logo is just icing on the cake.

IPF 968s have a combination fog/driving pattern. I've got them on my truck and they work great. They've survived hundreds of miles flying down dirt roads with nary a scratch.

What you're looking for is often called a "Euro beam". That's what Hella calls it, anyhow. Dunno if you can get the 500 in that pattern, but I have a pair of Euro beam 4000s and a single 3000, great light. The single 3000 used to be paired with a cornering pattern. At 9.5", they're a bit big for most cars...
