Sounds cost effective.

The drone maps out your farm using GPS and a near infra-red camera (NIR). The NIR assigns a numerical assessment of crop condition sending it back to the drone operator, usually sitting in a truck at the end of the field with a lap top. Instead of spraying the entire crop, a farmer can put pestisides or water where it is needed most, saving money and the amount of runoff into the water table.

Isn't farming already one of the most mechanized industries? At least for staple crops. Seems like a reasonable way to go about things and most farmers I know are very open minded about new technology if makes them money.
