I was reading about that neat trick to dyeing PVC by using clear primer and dye.  I wanted to try it on a piece for a turtle vivarium.

What dye do I use?

Don't know, but I have heard of a super-primer that allows pvc to take paint quite well. That's all I gotsad

I used RIT liquid on a leather jacket once, worth a try?

I used to dye my RC car parts with Rit dye. Dunno if it would work on PVC, but it's cheap enough to try on a 30 cent pipe fitting, as a trial.

Rit works. Boiling the PVC in the dye helps if you can fit the piece in the container.

Thanks for all the replies.  Looks like I'm supposed to do MEK with solvent dye.  I think I found some solvent dye at Woodcraft that will suffice.
