Can we PLEASE get an LX 5.0 now? You know, big engine, none of the e36 m3 we don't need on it?

Too bad it will be exactly like the SVO.... Overpriced, relatively underpowered, as compared to the V8, poorly optioned, and fairly ugly, JMO.

"In the F-150, the Ecoboost makes 365-horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and there's no reason to think that those are the limits of the engine and that, with a Mustang-Specific tune, Ford couldn't have a V6 powerplant capable of at least 400."

8-9k redline, premium fuel, etc... that's the v8 Boss test mule...

That's the Boss 302 mule. Ford already said the EcoBoost V6 doesn't fit in the Mustang.

Can you get me one (The Laguna Seca version is even better) snuck out the back door? They're gonna crush them anyway. The first new Mustang I really really want!

I wish I could have one myself. At this point, I would take a new V6 Mustang, lol. A lot of the cars that we tested were going to the crash facility. Shame.

    FYP.

And knowing what gets done with these cars, I'm ok with that.

I know that all the cars meet the crusher at some point. I was just saying that most of the cars that we used for testing were the same cars used in crash testing.

    LOL!!!

Don't tease us Eric...you know the answer to this question!

Can the Eco Boost produce 400hp in production trim? And will it fit in the nose of a Mustang? I think a turbo Mustang would be cool.

I take it that the inline 6 from Oz will never come to North America?

    EDIT..

I really can't answer that. Things can change, as well.

The "can it fit into a mustang" question- of course it CAN. The real question is- will it? That, don't know. The Mustang is such a powerful brand, I'm not entirely sure how a turbo v6 fits into the brand...

Who remembers when rumors had the Probe replacing the Mustang? Fans lost their minds. I'd love to drive an Ecoboosted Mustang, but I doubt I'd ever buy one, and I'm betting that stance is a lot more common than folks who would bum-rush the dealership and put down money.

That article's hilarious. They're basing their entire "it's an Ecoboost 6" assertion based on "Premium Fuel Only" and a 9000 RPM tachometer? The Ecoboost 6 makes peak power in the 5500RPM range, so they think a "Mustang Specific Tune" is going to raise the powerband 3000RPM? And 9000RPM seems like a pretty high redline for a turbo engine in a car where they probably want decent low end torque. Oh yeah, there's the "new bumper cover that looks to funnel air into an intercooler" too, even though you can't see an intercooler despite one being pretty visible in the Fiesta ST spy shots. That bumper couldn't be funneling air to the radiator, or some other heat exchanger besides an intercooler. Why didn't they take pictures of the gauge pod on the A-pillar? I'm betting that if there's a turbo engine and a gauge pod, there's a boost gauge in it, although since it's a development car they're probably useful gauges like real oil and water temp gauges.

I've been saying since the day that the Ecoboost made it into the Flex and the SHO that it needed to be under the hood of the 'stang. Mustang skunkwerks has shoved truck motors in 'stangs before (Terminators anyone) with EXCELLENT results. I'd probably be convinced to grow a mullet if I could get one with turboboosters.

Yes, and it is a shame. Inline sixes are a dying breed.

That wasn't a rumor, that was going to happen until the mustang owners club started a letter writing campaign to stop it. the Probe was going to be the next mustang until 6 months or so out.
