My email at work has a 2 year clear out function. As I was reading through the list I ran across this poem that I thought some of you would enjoy. Caution, sometimes the buttons fly off when I am talking about my sons.

Two years ago, Calvin, my son was 14 year old. He wrote this poem “Engine”. The American Library of Poetry published the poem in a book entitled Brilliance. I thought that you would appreciate the work of the next generation of car guy. The poem was a school assignment.

                                    Engine
                                 By Calvin Nelson

I am sitting in the light brown leather seat,

    Silently listening to the beat

    Rum rum rum rum rum

    Goes the piston fleet

The pistons are like ill-treated steeds,

    Only paid by horse feed,

    My foot is the master,

And gasoline is all the pistons need.

Then the spark eats their food,

Sending the pistons back down their giant metal tubes,

The engine continues this with every piston,

That is the sound to which I listen.
