I'm going to have to call BS John, everyone knows true R/Ts have badges on the right quarter panel.

It does have the R/T only red valve cover though...

it does look good with the Helios wheels. Did you sell the Jetta off already?

There's a Kia that looks identical to that...is this a rebranded Kia?

Correct, Festiva and then Aspire are Kia rebadges or at least manufactured by Kia for Ford. I remember seeing Kia written on an underhood label on my mom's '88 Festy and thinking "Who the heck is Kia?!"

Click and Clack (the Tappet Brothers) voted that "Aspire" was the worst car name ever used for an actual production vehicle. Just what did it aspire to be? A real car?

I concur. OTOH, I'd love to have one!

    I'll bite if it's for sale. 300 cash .

What was the model with the little roof spoiler? Wasn't it an SE?

I worked in a Ford dealership as a lot monkey for a while when those were fairly new. We had a mint green automatic SE that was my favorite parts runner. It would get dusted by a moped, so you had to drive the wheels off the little booger just to keep up with traffic - and nobody ever noticed. Huge fun.

SCC did an aritcle years ago called "Hail to the E36 M3box" or something like that where the crammed a Mazda B6T engine into one of these and it went like stink.

Pretty much a bolt-in from what I remember.

Oop.. Just found the article, it's a Festiva, not an Assfire. Should still work though.

    Here's the article: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0401_sccp_ford_festiva/index.html

Assfires are neat. Leave it to the Canadians to soup up these boxes. Look here http://www.cwstuning.com/CWSFestiva.html

Officially the car is for sale and the wheels are available as well... of you can get both together.

With the new transmission (with a bad 4th gear long story) Joel needs to get about $900.00 for it. I would like to get $250.00 for the set of Helios BBS RAs.

PM me if anyone is interested.

To convert a festiva to 4x100 BCD with larger brakes and rotors you don't have to explode the hubs to replace.

The shop labor to change the front brake rotors on a festiva is typically more than the car itself is worth.*

    • unless you can do it yourself, and this is not factoring in sentimental value

I have 2 of these sitting around. One is someone elses project with the B6T in it that I picked up a year ago for $250. Bought a stock Aspire as a reference and parts car and then a Capri XR2 for the same reason. Still haven't got the durn thing running.

While I cherish learning experience of this endevour, I believe that most of what I learned is wrong and am further from success that ever.

Aspire the worst car name ever? Not by a long shot!

    Ford [Frickin'] Laser [Beams]

Toyota Matrix (right after the first movie came out, LAME)

    Toyota Platz (AKA Echo/Yaris)

Pininfarina-Maserati Birdcage 75th Anniversary (Just too damn long...but not a production vehicle)

Toyota Tercel (Is that the best they could come up with?)

Suzuki Baleno (Mangled Spanish for "whale." How clever of you.)

Hyundai Tiburon (Spanish for "shark." How clever of you.)

    Pontiac Aztek
