Leno needs to do a car show, Top Gear: America or otherwise. His current late night show sucks. Conan is alright, but I kind of liked him better during his late-late night slot.
Neither of them can hold a candle to Craig Ferguson though. Dude is tapped.

This is all about pressure from the affiliates. Leno's show is poison in its timeslot, and drives viewers away in droves from their 11 o'clock news. Mean time, Conan's still not finding his footing at 11:30, and competing against other strong shows smack in his demo. Leno didn't compete with Stewart/Colbert, because the audiences are totally different. It's a terrible match for everybody.
Conan could walk and be fine. Leno could go back to the Tonight Show and put it back on like a comfortable pair of jeans (with a matching jean shirt) and nobody would notice.
Here's my proposition: swap Conan and Leno. Leno goes back to being background noise while baby boomers have sex under the covers with the light off then drift off to sleep, and Conan gets to inject some quirkiness into the 10pm slot, and bring his hipper-than-thou viewers with him, who can then click over to Comedy Central for the Daily Show. Win-win.

For the record, Seinfeld and I have never been seen together so infer what you will....... However, I have been in the same now-defunct car parts store in North Hollywood with Mr Leno.
Meanwhile, reports say Mr L is through in prime time and won't return after the Winter Olympics. NBC would like Jay to get the 11:35p - 12:05a slot followed by Conan from 12:05a - 1:05a with Jimmy Fallon taking the hour after that. Again, NBC does not want one of these guys to walk and beat them as a competitor. At least one of these guys will not be satisfied and will go.

I read that Fox is courting Conan, plus I'll guess he's the one with the most to lose in this deal.

Not from what I've read. I've heard that NBC is in breach of their contract, so no matter what happens, Conan will be getting 20 mil a year for the next four or so years. The only bad part is if he signs with another network, NBC only has to pay the difference. So if he's offered a 15 mil/year contract, NBC will only have to pay him 5 mil a year. I'd go on a four year vacation.

None of them are that good IMO. I checked out Lopez Tonight, and it is pretty much the same. I mean, when is a host going to sit on the left...just for a change of pace! And they all do a weak monologue for 10 minutes, then run out of time for a really funny comedian. There isn't much you can do with the stale old late-night interview format I suppose, but none of them (and I include Ferguson) have ever made me laugh out loud. I would rather watch Three Sheets or Insomniac, comedians and drunk people...now that's funny.
