My brother just had his computer wiped, and needs to re-install Office. We have the disc (we bought it), but not the product key. Isn't there a way that you can right-click on the disc drive to see the product key? We tried to call Microsoft, but can't find the right number. I'd do it myself, but I'm 130 miles away...

If It were me, I'd download a hacked version and be down with it. Its a PITA trying to get the product key otherwise. I usually magic marker them onto the cd anymore, for when I wipe the computer.

Office Keys can be found really really really easy on google...
Doing this would be wrong if you were stealing... But if you have legally bought a copy you have purchased the rights to using it.

Didn't look too hard, mostly because every time I've ever called them (twice) I've been on the phone for at least two hours.
Problem solved though, he went back to the place that fixed his computer (although with the number of viruses that were on it, that hard drive has to be close to dead) and had them put it back on.
If it hadn't been wiped already it would have been in the registry. Now you are SOL, Discs are mass produced copies and do not contain any product keys. The liscence/product key is what you pay for not the physical disc.
