What is FMV of a parted out miata?

Comes with a 1.6 diff and trans and oem shock absorbers but no springs or top hats. pictured below minus the roll bar, rear brakes and intercooler. has the front body panels and the wiring is severely cut which is presumably unusable.

it is rolling with some honda civic wheels

Need FMV for building a $2012 car.

    Cheers, Matt

I got $80 for one that looked like that when I took it to the dump less subframes (so further striped). I would say $125-150 would be fareish.

It's RHD, so $1,000,000 in the US.

I'd say a little more than $150ish... that looks like a fairly decent roll bar thingy.

    $300?

Roll bar has been cut out as i stated earlier.

scrap weight at most, whatever that is. I thin 150$ sounds fair.

Not sure if it's doable in a challenge budget, but that looks like a nice, clean, solid shell to replicate this with:

    You know you want to.

This is how it looked when said and done. i took the 1.6L miata diff, driveshaft and axles out of the trunk as well as the 1.6 miata 5 speed that has a harmonic on decel.

The seats are not to be included in the value as they are just some spares i had sitting around when i took the last picture.

the body parts missing are the trunk and the doors.

I'd go with $150. My neighbor sold a complete roller for $400 recently, and I paid $100 for a stripped and seam-welded shell with absolutely every removable part removed.

But it's RHD. Which means there are nutbars out there who WANT IT! Might be worth finding another in similar condition (if possible) and selling this to someone with a JDM hardon.

    Thanks Keith.

Unfortunately this shell is not registerable in the USA, only canada. The price of a RHD miata in canada is lower than that of a north american LHD versions because of the issues with finding insurance.

I have had the shell for sale OBO for the last ~4 months and I havent even recieved an offer besides someone who will take it if I want to give it away.

There are no advantages to the RHD configuration nor the chassis so I am hoping the FMV of $150 will be valid.

On a suggestion I have forwarded Per Schroeder the link to this (albeit on Facebook since i cant seem to PM him here) as I understand he is the officer for the rules. I want to get this sorted prior to spending any time preparing the chassis and sourcing parts for this challenge car for what would be my first entry.

    Thanks guys,

    Matt

Dumb question: Is there a difference in the tub, between RHD and LHD? Or are they the same, with different dash, pedal box and steering gear?

  • Dec. 20, 2011 1:37 p.m. shlammed New Reader

The tubs are identical. To the best of my knowledge the pedal box is the same as well.

The power steering pinion in the RHD rack is of identical ratios to north american steering racks.

I believe the firewall is different. I haven't had a chance to examine a stripped RHD, but there are no mounting points for the pedal box, steering shaft, etc on the mirror side like you often see on LBCs.

There are guys in California welding in firewalls from RHD cars. To each their own. I figured it was a Japanese import into BC when I saw it was RHD.

I will get a pic of the pedal assembly.

I know that the clutch rod is a different length on the RHD version.
