That reminds me of a quick story. When I was in high school, I worked for an attorney that mainly handled car insurance cases for a few of the big companies. I got to look through a lot of files when putting stuff together, etc. Anyway, one case came through where a brick building caught fire and then fell onto a van owned by our insured. The photos told the whole story, but instead of the usual step-by-step repair estimate, it just said "obviously a total loss."

I would guess it was hit in the front enough to cause frame damage beyond what was worth fixing, and someone bought it and stripped it for an engine swap.
