I was so worried that the ref would have found any random excuse to disallow it.

Well a thread with no content always begs the question of what are you talking about.

seriously? wow. US just won their last group game before the world cup ladder games start by scoring in the last minutes of the game. this means we won our group and get to play the second place team of group D.

I would still say there is a pretty good chance to play Serbia.

Whoa. I couldn't believe the US took that long to finish the game. How many shots did they miss?

But ultimately...a win. That is freaking awesome. Not since 1930. Wow.

    USA! USA! USA! USA!

I know if I don't have anything nice to say I should keep my mouth shut so I won't post about the terrible sounds and the blatant flopping that makes me intensely ignore the world cup. If you are a fan - I'm glad for you - enjoy it.

Sounds like I should've stayed up for the second half .

I saw the first attempt at goal, where it was called offside. Does anyone even really known what offside is?

basically, when the ball is passed to you, there has to be at least one player between you and the goal, the keeper not included. Its how they prevent cherry picking with players just hanging out in front of the goal waiting for a lob.

Also, when the U.S. scored, I jumped out of my chair so high i punched my ceiling fan. Its a little hard to type right now...

I always thought soccer and hockey offsides were similar. They both seem designed to prevent/limit scoring.

Imagine the NBA if they outlawed fast breaks.

It's cool that the US team won their group.

You can still have fast breaks. There must be two players (this can be the goalie and a defender or two defenders) between the player and the goal when the ball is struck. So if there is a long ball over the top of the defenders, the player can run past the defender and score.

I get that not all people like soccer. I just get defensive when people insult it. Anyway I was just pointing out how the rules work.
