Gullett Is Youngest Auburndale Speedway Winner

KIMBERLY GULLETT OF LAKELAND captured the 2010 Auburndale Speedway Scrambler title. She is the youngest overall winner at the speedway and first female to win an overall title since 1955. She won with this 1995 Honda Civic.

Not gender, age, a stick shift nor a wall has stopped race car driver Kimberly Gullett.

The Lake Gibson High School sophomore won the 2010 Scrambler championship by more than 100 points in her first full season at the Auburndale Speedway. The daughter of Kim and Scott Gullett, she won six feature races and tallied eight heat wins, bouncing back from smashing into the wall in 2009.

Gullett, who turned 16 shortly after winning the title on Nov. 20, was the only female racer in her class and the first to win any kind of season championship at Auburndale since 1955. She's the youngest ever to take an overall championship at the speedway.

Wierd. There was another circle track girl on MTV about her age that actually looked kinda like her last night. She was pregnant tho, and I don't believe this one is. Good for her!

Be honest, you were being nice by mentioning her teeth. You're just trying to distract us from her 5head. I tell you people, a true gentleman he is!

Aww c'mon, she just has braces. You're gonna give teenagers everywhere a complex.

And HiTemp, even if you were 10 years younger she'd still be illegal.

Can't a gal just go win a championship without almost everyone talking about whether or not they'd berkeley her?

Umm... You know, men really are not that hard to figure out. The answer to this shouldn't be that hard

Heh heh you said "hard". Gals ain't hard to figure either, if you're in the mood for figurin'.

I just mean damn, she's friggin' 15 years old winnin' this. That's damn impressive and all you can talk about is this crap? At 15 I would have loved to have the opportunity to even compete in something like that. Even if it means people start talking about my teeth in an inappropriate manner.
Thanks for posting this story Joey Sorry to vent

I don't follow circle track, but this is local to us, so I found it interesting. Feel free to vent.

[...and no, I don't agree with your comment "Gals ain't hard to figure either" You guys are completely unfathomable ]

I'm glad to see this. She did a helluva job. 100 points is a BIG lead!

One of my dirt biking buddy's daughter did quite well in the local small bore MX class a couple years ago, finished 3rd overall IIRC. A local womens' magazine did a nice article on her.

And in related other news, an 18 year old girl won the Snowball Derby down in Florida. That race usually has some of the best short track drivers on the east coast in it. What is the world coming to? http://www.insideline.com/car-news/snowball-derby-18-year-old-woman-wins-short-tra...

I'd say she's significantly better looking, and probably pretty tough.

If you read the article, it's a 300 lap late model race. For those who have never raced circle track, that's a lot tougher than you can imagine.

To be fair I met Mario Andretti about two years ago and was struck by how well he had aged. I wouldn't go so far as to have relations with him but he is a rather handsome man.

Mean Girls-style comments notwithstanding, I didn't know Civics were used in circle track racing. Badass.

Cool that a 16-year-old girl is interested in something other than texting and facebook.
