Rudy Guiliani said on Good Morning America that there were no terrorist attacks on American soil under Bush and George Stephanopoulos didn't catch him. WTF? Does Guilani really think Americans are that stupid?

Perhaps he meant additional attacks after 9/11. Since he was mayor of New York on that date I assume he remembers.

I am pretty sure Guiliani legally changed his middle name to 9/11.

But even then there was the shoe bomber, the antrax attacks, the D.C. sniper, the attacks of American Embassy in Yemen etc.

Perhaps he was thinking more specifically of domestic, Islamic jihadist-type attacks.

The Yemen embassy attacks did not take place on US soil, so I wouldn't count those. I'd add the Jewish Daycare Center and LAX El Al airline counter shootings, though.

Oh, and screw Stephanopoulos for not catching Giuliani during the interview, but posting a blog afterwards like a Bob Costas. The fact that the media is too scared for their profit margins to call out people for their bullE36 M3 is maddening.

Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but media would increase it's profit margins if it questioned every politico whose BS pegged the meter. It is pandering to a limited and dwindling audience.

The problem is not calling-out Guliani, but failing to apply investigatitive journalism standards regardless who's getting interviewed.

    Rant over..........

Back on topic, if the OP really wants to expand the reign of terror he should also include attacks related to those aimed at abortion practioners and those attributed to (or claimed by) eco-terrorists groups under the umbrella of ELF and PETA, and on, and on, and on.

I did not know that PETA was a terrorist organization.

Ironic if you think about it.

PETA qualifies as a terrorist orginization to me, just not a very competent one. Bunch of idiots, basically.

They may be a bunch of idiots, but I dont think they qualify as terrorists. Whens the last time the blew up an airplane? Theres no big ol pile of virgins waiting for the PETA member in the afterlife who blows up a bunch of meat-eaters.

I would say any group that enjoys throwing things at kids until they cry could be considered terrorists.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Unless they are throwing grenades or nailbombs or something.

    Spikey tennis balls maybe?

PETA is at least an enabler of terrorism by financially supporting terrorist groups like ALF and ELF. In that way they operate on the "shady" side much the same way as CAIR.

The OP tacitly chose to define the anthrax poisionings and the DC-sniper as jihadist-linked attacks - with no supporting evidence. That loose interpretation opened the opportunity to list other organizations and their actions as terrorist events.

The OP rightfully takes Giuliani to task, but took liberties to make his point. It's pretty obvious that the Mayor was referring specifically to Islamic-sanctioned attacks that may have (but never did) occur directly in this country.

For the record, Stephanopoulos didn't let this one by because of profit or political leanings or anything else. Stephanopoulos let this go by because he sucks. He better develop the ability to listen very soon or he won't have this job for long. Thinking on one's feet is also a prerequisite for hosting a national morning show.

Besides, had he called Giuliani on this foolishness or at least asked for a clarification, that bit would be replayed on websites, including ABC's own, over and over again. Most of those replays accompanied by a commercial message. People would be talking about it until the video (and the commercials) went viral. So there's more profit in getting it right, scooping the world, and revealing Giuliani for the crackpot he truly is.

These people have to do better. Journalism is about asking questions, not sitting there and offering your own stupid E36 M3ty opinions.

Me too... 9/11 saved his ass, there were quite a few people fed up with him on 9/10.
