Ever seen those guys live? The whole audience erupts into an epic mosh pit.

Yes. I have. And am itching for another chance. I was a yard or two (depending on the tide of the crowd) away from the barriers at the front of the stage. The girlfriend and I ended up weather the storm by taking shelter on the other side of an uber-butch lesbian protecting her girlfriend from the worst of the mosh pit.

    It was berkeleying awesome.

    Yep, that's a good one.

BTW, Old Crow Medicine Show is worth listening to as well.

Not Bluegrass, but 'old time string band'

This thread is the first of heard of them. Reminds me of Bob Dylan.

As it should! (It was an "unfinished" Dylan tune till OCMS 'finished' it.)

Flogging Molly is insane fun. When I saw them, they played their first song, and the lead singer said "It's been 4 years since we last played that song, and it's been 3 minutes since my last pint!" and with that, a waitress brought them all pints of Guinness, they pounded them, and then kept playing.

And I'm still mad someone posted this. I'm going to have to buy the CD now.

Also, that banjo player is arguably better than the fiddle player. ONE pick!! I can barely play rolls with three picks, and here this guy is shredding (and soloing) with one pick. Bastard.

I'm a bit partial to Carolina Chocolate Drops http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKTXJUYiAT4 and Dry Branch Fire Squad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrV5dScDUTQ . The latter because Ron Thompson (lead singer usually on guitar) was my 9th grade english teacher. They're quite different and show a nice range of what you can get with bluegrass.

I read about them in Spin a month or so ago. This cover is what got me to check them out. Cute novelty, but it wouldn't stick w/ me. Didn't check out their other stuff, though.

Sorry to drag this back up but I wanted to thank the OP.

I've worn out youtube this last week and finally sprang for the MP3s from Amazon.

Knowing that makes me very happy.
