Just wondering what your thoughts on it, if you have used it. How do the rates compare to a similar iphone plan. Will there be a gsm droid?

It's the Motorola Droid
I don't have this particular phone, but I do have a T-Mobile MyTouch (aka HTC Magic).
I love the thing. The Android platform is sweet. The Droid is a bit faster than my phone but a bit more beefy in the hands too. I don't like the hardware keyboard on it, also.
I'm not a fan of the iPhone as it is not an open source platform, and the phone is very restrictive as to what you can change. AT & T service is also pretty bad from what I can tell, and quite expensive.The iPhone is very fast however, and works well as a device. It's not for me however. I couldn't stand having to look at that screen only to see row upon row of icon.

I disagree with the AT&T service being bad when you compare them to any other US carrier. All cell phone companies are horrible, but AT&T is certainly the lesser of the evils. They do charge for it you quite a pretty penny for it, though.
I really do with they'd get off their highPhone horse and offer an Android phone, though.

Let's forget the network for the sake of the discussion. I currently have an at&t access network and it's been reliable. That's not the issue. More curious about the Motorola droid and other phones that use the android platform. Honestly I'd prefer a GSM version so it could work on the at&t network, as opposed to Verizon. Verizon coverage isn't as good in my neck of the woods. However, for the right deal I might be persuaded to if verizon has improved since my last use of them.

Yes, there is an Android GSM phone. It is offered by T-Mobile and called the My Touch, manufatured by HTC. Right out of the box the phone would be "locked" to only work with T-Mobile. I suspect that it can be "unlocked" and used on AT&T.
If it can be done, the answers to how it can be done will be found at www.howardforums.com. This is the be-all forum for cell phones.
Sprint now has an Android phone as well as Verizon. All can be researched on the forums listed above.

I'm getting rid of my storm 2 to get the Motorola Droid. It is a sweet phone I confiscated one from a student yesterday, but he would not trade me.
