I did some carpentry work once and commented on the cool old coffee table that the homeowner had in his library. He told me that it was a 400 year old bed from a Chinese opium den. He said that he wanted a coffee table that he could put his feet up on and figured that there was nothing that he could do to this one that hadn't been done before.

Nice! I think it would have made sense to have the nintendo system integrated into the table though... since I'm sure there's plenty of room in there.

That is awesome. Those bottles better not be for show, either.

Years ago I saw a picture of a coffee table made out of a crapped out Ferrari F1 engine. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

On Time Warp on discovery last night they made a sweet coffee table. Take 3 pieces of tempered glass, and stack them. Tape the edge with some black duct tape to hold them together. Then, take a center punch, and punch the center piece. It shatters into a brazzilion pieces, but is contained by the outer pieces. It looked awesome.

This is mine, down in the garagemahal. It's a Goodyear Stock Car Special that was used in quite a few TV commercials back in the early 90's (I worked in video production back in those days...they left it on the set, so TECHNICALLY it wasn't stealing!). The glass is a topper from one of those round clothes racks in a store. Works great for holding beer & Haynes manuals!

Wow, I love all the coffee tables in this thread. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I think the V8 one wins for me.

The wife got me the seinfeld complete set for "the holiday"- with coffee table book. I was noticably disappointed that the coffee table book didn't have legs. I thought that true fans would've overcome. I'll probably figure out a way to make it right- have some fold out legs or something.
