Welcome to the (un)official GRM - Gran Turismo 5 racing League - Series 4.

Series will begin immediately following the completion of Series 3

Points for the championship will consist of your 8 highest scores. With this, missing a race won't eliminate your chances.

First tie breaker is total wins. Second tie breaker is a 1 lap shootout on the final track of the season.

    Rules:

    1. You will have to compete using the same car throughout the series. Changing your car with result in a DQ.

    2. You can however tune / tweak your car to the limits of your class.

    3. All driving aids are off (TCS, ABS, Driving line, etc)

    4. Racing etiquette applies (e.g. it is the responsibility of the overtaking driver to ensure a clean pass). Keep the racing clean. Repeated violations / complaints will result in a DQ.

    Registration:

If you would like to compete in 1 or more classes, please send 'aircooled' a PM listing:

    Schedule:

Races scheduled to be held on Wednesday evenings. Each class race would run sequentially, with GT going first at 8PM Central Time (9ET, 6PT). SAL Class will go approximately at 8:45PM Central Time. A 15 minute warm-up period will be given between the 2 races.

    Event schedule:

    Round 1 (TBD) - Special Stage Route 7 - 3 laps

Round 2 (TBD) - High Speed Ring - 20 laps

Round 3 (TBD) - Circuito de Madrid Reverse - 24 laps

Round 4 (TBD) - Autumn Ring Reverse - 27 laps

    Round 5 (TBD) - Rome Reverse - 23 laps

Round 6 (TBD) - Trial Mountain Reverse - 20 laps

    Round 7 (TBD) - Special Stage Route 5 Reverse - 21 laps

    Round 8 (TBD) - Cape Ring - 11 laps

Round 9 (TBD) - Grand Valley Speedway Reverse - 16 laps

Round 10 (TBD) - Fuji Speedway GT - 18 laps

    RoC (TBD) -

The Race of Champions (RoC) will be by invitation.

Regarding ROC: We are going with NASCAR cars at SS rt7, 6 laps. A drafting extravaganza, trying to re-create some of the fun we had there in the first race. I didn't set up a second race, I figure we can just do a preview of the next series, maybe a half TC race, and a few shuffle races, just to wet the palette. It will give me a good opportunity to get pics of the TC entries.

WC - Weather Change, the setting will be left at the lobby default. GT5 will control what weather appears during the race. TC - Time Change, only in effect for Round 4. This will be a night race.

SAL: I have a strong feeling this is going to be a WRX and Lancer race... but I am really hoping it will be a Volvo Estate spec race

Oh Sport Tires? Yep. Screw all the RWD cars, i'm not doing that again.

Lancer for me, please and thank you.

I might just be guaranteed one point per week, as I was thinking about running the Volvo 240 GLT that I have.

I was hoping the 240 wagon was going to be allowed. Not sure if I will run it, but I will sure tune it and see what it can do. Mine is currently stock.

I have a good number of the cars on the approved list, so it will be fun trying them out and picking one for each class.

These classes seem to be closer in performance than the other series. Both with sports tires, and with hp/weight limits in the same ball park. Which class will be faster? Will it vary by track? When we ran at lemans a few weeks back, I started thinking that it might be fun to have 2 classes running simultaneously if we could get full 16 car fields. Make a Continential Tire series with the two classes, or American LeMans series, or something along those lines.

Looks like I'm either buying another Alfa or Maserati.

I know I'm buying another driftwagen.

That is kinda what I was going for...The Saloon class gets 100hp but have to carry an extra 200kg.

It gets really close when the GT can't get down the minimum weight, or up to the maximum power.

    Updated the Events

I included my least favorite track in the game, just so that there would be some variety... I hate you Cape Ring.

For the RoC, I am thinking Carts... what say you?

  • RealMiniDriver

    Karts is cool for RoC

I was wondering why you were avoiding Cape Ring.

Some of those corners are bit tricky, the off camber turn 1 can be a bit of a surprise.

Cape Ring is the most unrealistic track in the game. I would have an easier time making arguments for Trail Mt and Deep Forrest (they look like Bathurst).

Also, I think damage is going to be light for Round 1... I don't think SSR7 has a pit, can anyone confirm?

I built a late model Lancer and it's too slow @ Lemans, no chicannes; Trial Mt.; and Nurb. GP/F. Subaru should be about the same. However, I'll have to take some goodies off the two big saloons I'm comparing to and hope to get them back down to 650hp to be sure. I'm quite sure it won't make that much difference.

I"ve had two occasions lately to buy the Volvo Estate and had a feeling I should, now I know why

Can we please do race tires on one of the classes? I kindof like the juxtaposition between once class with E36 M3ty tires and one class with not E36 M3ty tires. I know i don't have the patience or focus to do two races in one night fighting for traction every inch of the way.

You should be thankful that I didn't come up with a class that ran on Comfort tires. Tires separate the men/women from the boys/girls...

...if you boys want race tires, I'll do some testing and consider it.

I'm just a boy who is usually trying to race after getting up at 4:30am that same day and working 12 hours before he gets home and tries to do two 30 minute races without falling asleep, using a controller.

I'm not really fussed about it either way, it's all in fun, just figured i'd ask.

Oh yes, I did forget about the stupid jump on that track. Not bad for slow cars, but pretty ridiculous for faster ones (especially for rear or mid engined cars)

The jump isn't THAT bad... just downshift and get your brake on while you're still in the air.

Does that bring the nose down while in the air?

When I ran that in an NSX, I was almost vertical when I landed, it was pretty silly.

GTs can use Racing Hard tires.

That will be interesting. I haven't done much testing/tuning for the new series yet. I think I have 2 GT cars fully outfitted so far and one saloon/estate car. The Volvo 240 is not worth the extra point for me, but what about other cars with roof racks?

  • Grizz

    July 22, 2011 11:48 a.m. Grizz Reader

Some things I saw on the Spreadsheet: The 8C is a gt, right?

    Same with the 599.

I thought you didn't count concept cars as acceptable, like race and tuner cars? Because that's what the 1 series Tii is.

You might as well take the infinitis off the list, as I've got one fully tuned and it's weak even compared to the 370 Skyline, which is around 450ish hp and around 1400kg. Also G20 in saloons?

You missed the XFR in saloons.

Just a heads up to anyone who thought they'd use it, the 190E maxes out at 391 hp and doesn't even hit 500pp. It also doesn't compete very well against 500pp cars.

    Screw the E55 AMG

Aren't the SL55 and SLS GTs? Or is the sls a supercar?

You missed the Legnum for Saloon class, same with the Airtrek if you'd count it as an estate.

The Premium Z cars aren't GTs?

I'm really tempted to run my Skyline 370 GT

Stageas are Wagons, should be included.

    No Avantime!

You either missed the Legacys, or you figured anyone too stupid to know they were included shouldn't be racing.

Ft86s can't meet the minimum weight.

Bora counts as a saloon, or is it too small?

I hope somone runs the S60, full out mine murders tires like it's nothing

    I think that's everything.

E: Ignore most of the GT related stuff, I had the restrictions mixed up and was thinking 600hp and 1400kg for that class.

It is a 2 seater. It has a rear luggage rack, but they didn't bother to put useless seats back there to make it a GT.

    Grizz wrote:

The 599 was in the original list, but I couldn't make the other cars competitive with it. So I moved the HP limit down and excluded it. It is by far the best GT car in the game.

    Grizz wrote:

    Noted. Will remove.

    2 seaters

Grizz wrote: You missed the XFR in saloons.

I don't own one, and the only reference photo I could find was of a race version. Does someone have one they could gift and I could check out?

Grizz wrote: Ft86s can't meet the minimum weight.

They can... you can add 200kg of ballast. Have fun with that though.

Yea, all those should probably be included.

Thank god... I think that is most dissecting anyone has done on my rules to date.
