Sorry for going off topic, but are you drunk now? Where in Canada does speeding carry a tougher penalty than DUI? I looked up the laws for several provinces and every single one carried a minimum suspension of 1 year for a first DUI offence and an $800 to $1000 fine. Second offences are more severe, including larger fines, jail time, etc. Even Ontario's ridiculous, knee-jerk reaction, "street racing" law doesn't come close to that, except for the amount of the fine (car impounded for 7 days, $2000 fine, 7 day license supsension).
Please give some more info where speeding carries a more severe penalty than DUI. Even if you're not over the blood alcohol limit, you can get a 12 or 24 hour license suspension in many provinces if you're getting close to the limit (0.04 instead of the 0.08 limit). Can I get a ticket for "coming close to speeding"?
