I would not have thought that Pastrana would quit with such a minor wall tap...then again, sometimes in GT4 if I get a corner wrong I throw my controller across the room.

Uh, trust me, it wasn't minor. He tore the front control arm off the car. He was NOT going anywhere!
As for the Fiesta's, the specs you quote are what they were running at Pikes Peak. At XGames they run Rally America open class rules except they get 40mm restrictors instead of 34mm restrictors (so instead of 300whp and close to 450ft/pnds of torque they are making around 400whp and over 500ft/pnds of torque).
Piotr was running Matt Iorio's old car, which is currently owned by some other dude (GRM had a really good article on Matt Iorio and the stellar cars he built). That thing has some serious balls. Mabye not as much as the Fiesta's, but they were running around 50pounds of boost

The front of Travis' car barely even touched the wall, he oversteered the back into the wall by the looks of the video...didn't look like a ton of damage...even cosmetically.

I can't really be bothered arguing with you, if you were actually watching the footage, you could see the passenger side tire getting all binded up in the wheel well/flopping around. It was a terrible shot, and the camera's were in a bad position to show the clip, but you could see it if you were looking for it (I had assumed he had broken a ball joint). If you also watch the incar footage, you can see there is a "pinball" effect from the portion of the hit you don't see where he does more then one bounce off the wall.

I felt bad for Brian Deegan in the Fiesta vs Pastrana. With no boost, there was no way of him being anywhere near competitive enough to win or even clear that jump.Felt bad to see him frustrated, wanted to see him finish well...

Looked to me like he hooked a rut with the front passenger tire and that's what caused the deal. Something like that I could easily see messing up an LCA.

I appologize if you felt I was being argumentative. You are right, the camera angles were crappy, but I was simply noting what I saw.
If they showed the car post race I would be able to see something, but from the shot I saw, it looked like he did hit something with the inside front, but it didn't appear to be the wall, to me it looked like a large bump of sorts. I think it unsettled the car and the back of the car smacked the outside of the corner. (simply my view of it, no need to take offense)

just finished watching this today and this girl ive been casually dating brought over a copy of DiRT for us to play, makes me want to build a rally car!
Felt real bad for Deegan, I wonder why they didn't even attempt to fix it like the announcers were saying. I was amazed that ken block didn't try that jump...I wore his damn shoes that I bought lol hoping he'd win.
