Correct, the egg was not washed- we leave them on the kitchen counter, and have eaten them as old as 3 months or so, without them ever having been refrigerated.  The natural coating works, apparently.  Glad it went to an egg-loving home.  I'm also happy you got the flashlight open.  I'm looking forward to seeing it re-powered with some modern battery technology and an LED or something.  wink

Yeah, the front of the flashlight just twists off. I used to take one like it to YMCA camp.

If that box happens to be going to Stafford, CT.. Don't worry about it this year :)

Ewww... Stafford?

I grew up in Tolland.  We were like Springfield and Shelbyville. Big high school rivals. Sometimes if the weather was right, we could hear the speedway echo through the valley. My dad moved to Stafford a few years ago. RFD road.

Sorry to hear your box got vanished. Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send you something from the shop.

I guess Its my turn to show what I got!

First, the box, and what better place to unbox than in the shop by my car!!

Now, I need an instrument of opening, should be all kinds of things in here I could use....

...

...

.......

hrmmph... I guess nothing super interesting is handy, so to old fashioned flat razor scraper!

First up, a note typed up from G_Body_Man, that the keen eyed may notice that old fashioned razor scraper got a bit too excited...

Following that, two books: 'Clarkson on cars' (which I find impossible to read and NOT hear Clarkson's voice) and 'Lemon-Aid New Cars 2001', which should proof to be an interesting read and a DVD 'Dust to Glory' which I have been told may be a bad idea if I already have an inkling for sand / desert racing.

Next up, a set of brake pads for a Panther platform, which may or may not be feeding my want to purchase a panther platform, I mean, I have parts so it'd be a shame for them to go to waste...

I had a laugh with the next piece, as the table everything is being placed on is made from an out of spec 302 block from an older F150 (super high mileage ex farm use truck) Still  a cool piece, and I think I would be just as amazed watching it being made out of plastic.

And finally, we have a coconut air freshener, which funnily enough was my brothers favorite scent for his 4th gen Camaro and it has found its home in my car's glove compartment for when its finished.

And finally a shot of everything!

Thank you again for the gifts G_Body_Man!!

A wild package appeared!!

Despite it clearly being labeled USPS, it arrived in one piece and didn't appear to have been molested.

I just used my pocket knife to open it. My apologies for the pictures. My wife has a very nice camera with several different lenses and I know how to use none of it properly.

My first copy of GRM Magazine! A little outdated but its new to me.

A look inside.

Safety third! Some goggles I'll try to remember to use, a hammer (awesome, I needed a new one), a storm trooper pez dispenser, an unmarked green lanyard, magnetic toys I'll have to hide from the 18 month old, some flex tape (I don't know what it is for but looks quite handy), a golf towel (I think thats what they are called), a microfiber cloth, and some big AF zip ties.

JB Weld FTW, tire patches and tools, a little belt (for a lawn mower?), and some Star Wars cards for a game I haven't gotten addicted to yet.

Again, bad pictures. Anyway. A really cool "Pet Tornado", A fairly heavy bracket of some kind (my guess is an office chair), some magnetic hooks that look super handy, a Kumho coozy (really fun to say), a magnifying glass thing that I hope is for killing ants, and a set of locking lug nuts that I really hope fit a chevy because the chrome wheels on the corvette need to look more valuable before I sell it. And a Triumph hat, which even for a non hat wearer, is a real triumph in itself. ...I'm not sorry.

Various USB cables/adapters/chargers, a postcard that my wife loves, another big zip tie, a fan?, some toggle bolts I already have a use for, and a promising looking book.

A bag of hardware with masonry anchors, a thing for webcam security, an unfortunately broken wooden disk, a really cool card, some decals (office 365 and flyin miata), stickers, and a patch that makes me a specialist at small business.

Awesome haul! Thanks Greg Smith! Happy new year everyone!

That's awesome that your dad is right up the hill, I'm over on Hydeville.  Stop by if you're ever visiting him, or have him reach out if he ever needs a hand with something!

I work over in Tolland, but I don't have any of the rivalries since I'm a transplant. I moved here from PA about 5 years ago.

Thanks for the offer to send something, I'll be fine :)

Shoot, I opened and procrastinated posting.  I got stuff!

So a box arrived.  No return address, no hints or clues to identify the sender.

Small cars of a racey nature.  They have already joined the windowsill fleet at work.

A small collection of race car flyers.  These are new to me, some are signed by drivers, all are beautifully done.  Glossy, thick, very cool.

Some computer fans, shoelaces, bearings, and other nifty tidbits.

To be continued......

Continued.

stickers! A license plate bracket, a web cam, and more!

A very nice model Porsche.

A book, The Roadster, a very nice choice.  Some electrical bits and pieces.  And some velcro unit patches (a clue, my secret Santa is young, we didn't have velcro back in my day).

A used water pump for a '14 Civic!  :-P

Another shot of some of these "flyers".  They are very cool and something I never knew about.  I'm guessing they are handed out in the pits while people walk around scoping out the cars and meeting the drivers.  Thanks GRM Santa!!

In reply to barefootskater :

Glad you like it!

The "flex tape" is a 'as seen on TV'  gimmick product that has some usefulness. It did NOT work to patch a cracked sink, but for flat surfaces, is supposed to be a really good waterproof seal.

The steel did indeed come from an office chair and was mostly to make the package heavy. But it can be useful somewhere...

The fan was for my air compressor; could have been one of two types so i ordered both. This is the one I did NOT need...

The lens is from a cheap projector bulb my son hacked into a different housing.

I'm glad your wife likes the card!

And the hammer... with the etching on the side, I just had to add it to the box. $2 post-christmas clearance at Walmart. What a deal!

I totally forget what the belt is from. Maybe trying to fit one to our tiller.

And I hope you enjoy the book!

Belated Happy New Year!
-Greg

Man, it kills me to say so but that marks the end of our GRM game for 2017, I now have confirmation that all gifts have been received.

This year was our second year in a row for 100% participation (yay) and our first year for a lost/destroyed package (boo).  I cant express my excitement as you guys continue to evolve this game into a life all of its own.  What was a nifty little deal where we grabbed stuff off our work bench now has its own traditions and history (regifting, especially the boxes and the trespassers will be shot sign), suspense (with a new package of razors, will clockwork need to remove a fan guard next year?), mystery (how can Indy "barely function" yet posses such amazing light saber skills??) and seeing an egg make it through the mail (and get eaten!!!) was hands down my favorite exchange in game history yes

Cheers everybody, and thanks for playing!   I hope to see you guys again in December for another round of shennanigans.  wink

I've read that Roadster book a couple of times. The barn that he restored on the Connecticut Wine trail is not far from me. I haven't met Chris, but I've probably seen his car. It's definitely worth reading.

Glad everything made it unscathed, i was a little worried about the frame.  The patches are mine, but I am probably not as young as you think I ust spent a long time in the Army.

The bearing is a wheel bearing for a SAAB 9-5 I think, the injector seals are leftovers from my GTV-6 and the water pump came off of the only car I have ever sold that I made money on.

I really liked the book and figured this crowd was a good place to pass it on to.

The Hero Cards are cool but after many years of collecting them my wife is getting less tolerant of them so I decided to pawn some off.

Thanks for the goodies, some have made it into my collection, some were used in an "Italian auction" my autocross club holds for charity.  All were appreciated.

So I have a big, big mea culpa to make...  I totally dropped the ball of submitting pictures of the loot I got from Ashyukun!  I'm so ashamed :(

I stuck the package on a box in my garage to "get to the night after I got it", and I didn't get back out there for about a month and by that time it had fallen behind the box.  All of this within a month or two of having twins meant it wasn't on my mind, and I just noticed it when I was out there tonight at midnight working on a clutch.

I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

Okay, with the grovelling out of the way, let's get to the loot!

The random crap part of the game was quite spectacular with tons of expired hazard fraught coupons, a Jeep hubcap with a small hole in it, a random key fob (Ford?), A small scale (no weed!  No weed!)

Some awesome Deloreans and a gt40 (the kids will appreciate these!)

A small Allen wrench set and a princess Leia and wolverine minifig.  The marvel package contained my own little groot, who doesn't need one of those?

But, the main attraction is still to come!

Robert went waaaayyyyy out of his way and sent me some awesome vinyl!

There's 6 rotors of various sizes in both white and black, my screen name in both colors as well as my name.  It was filled out with some classic Motorsports and GRM die cuts.

I've got to say that my favorite is the "Wankel rotary engine"decal which immediately got a place of honor on the toolbox:

So thanks Robert!  This is awesome!

Sorry again that I'm a big jerk!
