In reply to thatsnowinnebago: I was working at Petersen Publishing, car was parked down in Motorcyclist's parkinglot at the bottom of the hill. I talked to Dexter Ford about it, he asked if I wanted to borrow it, and YES, indeed, I drove it up the hill, into the elevator, with the engine running, and into the magazine office where I worked. I didn't have camera with me. Sorry

In reply to triumph5: If I remember right, the scooter was in the back of a Japan-market Honda.

The RX7 vert has the mini-spare (looks like an ice racing wheel/tire) behind the seats so you have to put up the top, tilt the seats all the way forward, remove the huge tire cover and then the tire. Getting the spare out isn't so bad but getting the flat back in is fun 'cause its too big for the well...

I haven't worried about the spare since they all moved to "space-savers". And really, I haven't had one go flat on the road in years. Tires are just a whole lot better than they used to be, I still get punctures & slow leaks, but nothing that keeps me from driving to the tire store for a patch (after pumping it back up before I leave).

the only "blow out" I've had in years.... make that ever ... was going to work one morning , took a curve faster than maybe I should have inside rear dropped down into a GIANT pot hole at the apex and blew out the side wall... hole about 2" in dia. made it to the bottom of the hill (~.2mi) to a station ... got my coffee and put on the flat space saver... and 75ยข later had it pumped up to it's 60 psi and off to work I went... bought 4 tires that evening

I cut a tire on my 720 and had to put the spare on. I was both surprised and disappointed to see the 29 year old original spare tire. It's a long walk to a tire store carrying a wheel when no one will answer the phone to come pick you up.

No, no, no, no spares anymore. Certain sold-in-japan-only cars did not come with a spare. Open the hatch, open the 9"wide flap, and pull out the motor scooter! And they worked well. I rode one into the elevator at work, kept it running, elevator door opened up, rode it to my office. I did have an interesting conversation with the office manager about punctuality and office decorum.

    Pics or it didn't happen

Honda Motocomp - folding scooter that fit in the Honda "Today" or "City" super minis.

The Honda Motocompo. A bud who worked at the local Honda motorcycle shop had two of them. I should have bought one.

EDIT: fastbmw beat me to it.

That's it. The one I rode was white.
