While looking at this engine swap thread, (while she was considering pointing out the difference between electric motors and gas/diesel engines) I told the wife that I've always wanted to put an EG33 into an FB RX7. Not only did she know what I was talking about, she agreed that it was a pretty awesome idea.

I'm jelly that you guys have wives that are interested in cars. My wife barely has a passing knowledge of cars. She doesn't know why I want an LS1 Miata, but she doesn't have a problem with me buying a Miata because they're cheap, "cute" convertibles. She just doesn't get why I want to take a "perfectly good car" and replace the engine with one that makes the car use more gas and make more noise when I hit the go pedal.

My wife was inside as I was outside taking lights down as a 1976-1977 Chevrolet Nova went by. (a mild Chicago winter day today) Later she asked me if I saw that old Nova. Then she asked how many women are still into cars after 25 years of marriage?

As we dated my wife owned a V8 1979 Chevrolet Camaro as I weenied down the highway in my 1.4 liter Datsun 310. Yeah, my buddies all laughed at me.

    I guess I'll keep her.....

My wife was the one that decided to turn down the n/a slushbox Cooper we had ordered, when she found a slightly used 6 speed Cooper S...... she called me from the dealer to come and get it because she hadn't learned a manual- yet.

Mine told me I HAD to buy race tires for the Targa Miata because she wants to see if she can still take turn 6 at Laguna Seca without lifting. In a 400 hp Miata.

She also got pouty when she found out the new engine in her street Miata will only make about 220 at the wheels. And this is her grocery getter.

My wife is a reformed ricer. When we met she had a 98 Protege with a body-kit that made the car unrecognizable as a Mazda, 5 Zigen wheels, fart can, and under-body lights. To her credit, she did do alot of the work with a little help here and there. She approved of my past projects, but wants a garage so we can build something as a couple. I'll keep her.

Even if it's below zero she doesn't mind when I roll the window down at stoplights to hear the barely muffled Camaro or Mustang that just rumbled up next to us.

And she can tell the difference between a 5.0 and a 4.6!

She also tolerates the constant Karl Childers and Chopper impressions...as long as I don't get stuck in character for more than a few minutes...

In reply to The_Jed: I didn't know I tolerated Karl and Chopper; I thought it was more along the lines of kicking you in the balls during said impressions, then walking away, so I don't have to listen to Chopper telling himself to hadin' the berkeley up!

    I wuvs you!
