I would avoid slush box neons. 3spd, 30/25/22MPG, absolute dog compared to the stick.

I'd take the v8 bird over a 4 door civic too.
I modified my Celica to get 48mpg on the highway at 75mph on cruise control.

Yes, assumed current T-bird is lame, but it has 2 doors and rear drive. It can be fixed. 4 door Honda w/ autotragic cannot. However, for someone not interested in driving, just wants transportation, Honda may be better. She dosen't want to give up the T-Bird? Maybe she has better taste than you giver her credit for... Agree with most of this. I like MN12s, and I know a lot of people on this board don't. Yes, they're overweight. Yes, the mod motor versions are needlessly underpowered. But I think history will eventually be kind to these cars. Remember that in an era in which absolutely everyone was abandoning RWD and V8s, the MN12 platform was the last RWD mid-size 2-door available from an American manufacturer. I'll take an overweight RWD V8 with SLA suspension at all four corners over an overweight FWD V6 with Macstruts any day of the week.
Edit: reread this, and it sorta makes it sound as if I think the Civic has struts and a V6. I meant to compare the MN12 to its intended competitors--GM W-body, etc.

I just had a stroke over this.
A $1500, no-rust, 120k mile Civic and there's a question of whether or not to hang onto it. I don't know what to say...
