I'm making almost twice what I was in North Carolina, but my quality of life and and disposable income are not even a tenth of what they were there. If you're not a geek headed to Tech Mecca, a wannabe (porno) actor/actress, or a berkeleying hippy, there's probably no reason to move to CA.
