ditch the headlights and probly the hood as well, remove unneeded electronics(screen/playstation/neons), consider a fartcan-ectomy.
so.. get a stock hood and headlight panel/headlights and the car can be made fine.
not worth anywhere near the $5k they are asking though.
and if you put the screen ps2, and neons in your basement you could have a fairly cozy gameroom. (and actually get to use it more)

I agree... about a grand or twos worth of work and you get a nice 944
that car also has the one thing that I hate that almost all 944s I have seen have. that stupid "porsche" aftermarket filler panel between the taillights. Even the one I have been keeping tabs on has it. if i buy the car, it is the first thing into the trashcan

so that panel is after market? I have never thought twice when i have sceen it because every example I have sceen has one

I always wondered about that panel.
On another note, that hood is an aftermarket FD RX-7 unit. It looks really nice on the curvy 7, really bad on the square 944.

yeah, it's aftermarket. Stock, it looks like this:

I think it looks "ok" if it has a German plate in there, but looks like ass with a US plate. Most of the ones owned by friends have had the light panel put in. I'd put it in there if I had one, as well.
As for the comment in the original post, I doubt the dealer actually did this to the car. I'd bet that more likely they took it in on trade for something else.

ohh, the 944 plate, gotcha

Yeah my old 944 had the panel in there, I left it because well an OR plate stuck in there would have just looked terrible.
The headlight panel on that thing is hideous! I could actually even see leaving the hood (well maybe toning it down a little) to give it an updated more aggressive look however have an engine under the hood to back it up. Ditch all of the electronics and garbage inside.

Yeah, I doubt the dealer actually did that, but I didn't know who else to blame! I'd love to de-ugly it, but I wouldn't pay $5k to do it. I'd keep the seats, but that's about it.

I just think it looks better without that filler panel... besides, most of them seem to fade and turn an opaque pink after time.
I will own one of those.. maybe this summer of the one I have been watching is still for sale

I think I could live with the body-kit. The hood and headlights would have to go.

Awthome. Even the seats are ass. Those pleather penalty chairs aren't even comfortable or supportive.

what body kit? Thankfully the only things done to the exterior of that car are the hood, front nose panel, headlights, and deletion of the rubber strips from the bumpers

You forgot that totally '80s aftermarket panel under the rear bumper and the rocker moldings. The rear bumper ground effects piece is so dated it makes me wonder if it's from the maker of the "Mulholland Look" kit for beetles.
In my opinion, the filler between the tail lights doesn't look too bad when the license plate is mounted under the bumper like it is on this car. However, most of the cars that I see with the filler panel have the plate mounted to the bumper, and it just looks stupid.

Wow, you guys missed the CF "trim" on the glovebox, the stock steering wheel and the messed up door panel. I won't go over the rest of the pieces. I think painting the hood to match the body would go a long ways to solving some of the goofy looks after fixing the headlights of course.
The rear doesn't look too bad, I prefer the center panel that reads "Porsche" instead of "944" But then I'm biased
