I really want to try some sand/lost foam casting.. my old place had a bunch of bricks in the alley between the houses, so we fashioned them into a charcoal pit, hooked that to a squirrel cage fan I had from a laser project (150cfm) and wound up melting a bunch of aluminum I had kicking around, didnt have anything to mold really as we were just messing around, I think we made corn shaped ingots from an iron pan... a bit more focus and I couldve cast some pretty cool stuff.

im working on some good stuff - i want to try a lost foam blank for machining lightweight accessory pulleys. Iv ebeen reading up on how to refine quality and grain structure when casting billets for machine grade alloy. Ive gotten some raw minerals for adding to the scrap aluminum Ive got. I will start a thread once I have soemthing to show for all my efforts.
Im also working on reaching bronze melting temps for decorative castings. Its addicting!

I'm in the office. If by "office" you mean "using the can". Then yes. That's where I am.

I'm with you there. My "new" project is my wifes grocery getter Altima with a rough idle and possibly bad vehicle speed sensor. Yippie

I didn't want to be at work today either.
