On the PT thing, if they send you that route, you have to do what they say and do what they say for home exercises. Normal people don't have to do that stuff, which stinks, but it's the hand you get dealt. Happens all to often that you feel great after doing all your home exercises, then you get too busy to do them or just forget. Then one day the pain comes back. In the long run, at least do some of the exercises if you are in a time crunch. Once you get so you feel good, it takes much less to maintain it, but if you stop completely, you'll end up regretting it. Good luck.

The surgeon I spoke with is a neurosurgeon, I need to spend a little time with him before he decides wether I am going under immediately or if I need to kick around with PT for a while first. He had a few more pics done and I have another meeting with him Monday.
Definitely try the PT first Push that idea with the doctor and see how hard he argues for surgery. I know 2 people who had very similar problems. One opted for surgery and the other refuesed surgery and went with PT. Both are doing fine except that the lady who had surgery lost a lot of motion in her neck.

So I went to the obligatory "third opinion" today. The worst of the two issues will need surgery, immediately by two of three accounts. The lesser we are going to wait for, two surgeons seem to think it is a secondary reaction to the primary issue higher in the neck. The injury is very old and that has not helped much. I am actually going to have the last surgeon do the operation because he can do it with minimal cutting on my neck. While chicks dig scars, I don't. I am going in on Saturday AM for the big party. It sucks because there is a lot that was planned for this weekend, but the suggestion of my wife, boss and the surgeon won out over picking up a toy.
E36 M3ting bricks and drinking lots of water right now. I almost wish I was thy type to hide behind a little Valium ;)

Good luck and plus a lot on following the doc's advice. Take the pain meds on time too until they wean you off, you'll need it. And get some soft foods to keep in the house for postop, you will have the mother of all sore throats for a few days.
