Hey, i've got a pretty varied list as well and I'm only 28. I like hearing about others who do too. Funny, I tend to get along really well with those people. Maybe we all recognize eachothers crazy.

Did she have the coffee shop before you married her? I actually really like my job and where my career is heading right now but I do have this semi-recurring fantasy of opening a bike/coffee shop and micro brewery someday.

No. We bought it together. She ran it. Closed now.

If you are serious about a bike/coffee/brewery shop, call me. We've got an awful lot of equipment (sufficient for 2 stores) in storage right now.

How does one find these people?

    (look for headhunters on google?)

Aerotek, if they are in your area is one. Too bad you aren't down this way, OK has lots of jobs for engineers in the oil/gas and defense sectors.

Add in good salaries with super low cost of living.........

Aerotek I had never heard of them till recently but they hire the prawns for volkswagen. As for the OP A 25% decrease in salary is really E36 M3ty. It would be sweet to not half to work but three days a week but not knowing if work will be regular is a really crappy thing that is all to common in many industries these days.

On the good news front.. another place I work at (and my main employer) is non-union and is not bound by the new union contracts.

Traditionally they have always screwed us because of that.. paying below rate, not having enough people on staff to get the job done... well, because we are non-union and are not bound by the union contract.. they have so far not cut our pay to match...

we will see how long that lasts..

A cut like that is a bitter pill to swallow...

Are they doing that to try to keep everyone working instead of putting some workers on furlough?

I may be starting another job here shortly working for another union, and am curious to see how it goes. The last union job I worked...the union was "optional". I didn't see a benefit to it, and didn't join..and got all the crap assignments.

Kinda hoping this job is a bit different.

Lots of people I know recently got a 17-22% pay cut. I was not offered a position on the new contract so I was looking at a 100% paycut. I could sympathize with them, but after a while grew tired of listening to them complain about how they were being treated. I kept telling them that 80% is a lot more than 0%. Eventually, after coming down to the end of my 2 week's notice, I managed to get a new position with no pay cut, so it seems like it worked out in the end for me.

It's a bit disturbing that so many people want to take pot shots at the OP here. If you think he makes too much, then change career fields and go work at a casino. Datsun1500 has it right IMHO.

Is any one in Huntsville keeping their job? I feel lucky to have got the part time job I have.
