Weird. When the plastic overflow cap cracked and I melted the skin off my wrist, the skin grew back permanently tan. BTW it sucked. Sucked hard. And that's only 4 square inches of skin. Best of luck to your buddy.

I overheated my Talon bad once. Had no money for cooling fans, but had plenty for a big turbo, FMIC, etc. Young and dumb. Pull it back in the driveway and go to pop the hood, as I approach, BAM!
Coolant hose let loose. Hot pressurized coolant blew out of the grille and the gaps by the headlights. Good thing the hood was down.

All these stories are seriously making me shudder... Although it does bring rise to another possible reason the original "peoples car" was air cooled...

My worst was a lung full of coolant steam on my way back from OzzFest in '06. I was coughing bad for the 3 hour drive home.
Best wishes and all.

damn ... hope he recovers soon / well
when I was in the Navy we lost a shipmate when he was straddling a high pressure steam line ( many hundreds of degrees ... maybe even 4 figures ) when it ruptured
