    According to a story on Yahoo news, the latest edition of the Star Wars "saga" now coming out on Blu-ray AGAIN has "fixes" and additions not seen in previous versions.

    I'm not a HUGE fan of the S-W movies, when the 1st one came out I saw it a few times, and saw it a few more in the '80s (partly because I had a friend who had never seen it) and I saw the "enhanced scenes" version in the late '80s/early '90s. BUT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, stop with the enhancements/fixes. Would / does any other filmmaker go back as many times as George Lucas does and re-re-re-do a film....to death?

    I am waiting for the Indiana Jones re re re re re make, then I will buy.

    To keep the fans buying them! How else do you convince someone who already has every VHS/Betamax/Laserdisc/DVD/Blueray and box set version? Make another version with new stuff that they have to buy to see...

    Yeah, BEFORE it goes to print. I'm with the OP, but what the heck, obviously there are people/idiots who just gotta have the latest and greatest iteration of whatever movie it is that tickles their fancy.

    I'm a fan. I got the 'new, enhanced, with added scenes' edition when it was released forever ago on VHS. The scenes that were cleaned up were nice, but most of the added scenes, that Lucas wanted to do originally, but "didn't have the technology", sucked. Can I get the Bluray set without the added fluff? You know, original footage, but cleaned up.

    I actually liked the 1997~1999 "special editions" better than the originals, with some minor exceptions (Han TOTALLY shot first damnit!) At least they got rid of the 'yub yub' Ewok song at the end of Jedi.

    The later attempts to retcon them with the prequels, like photoshopping Christian Assclown's head onto Ghost Anakin, however, are inexcusable.

    If Lucas released a "build your own" version of the originals, where you could select which versions of each scene you wanted played before watching, he'd make... well, some more millions.

    There we go. Make an online configurator and select your options. Mine would be Han Shot First, in HD/Improved Sound, and the first three don't count.

    I have first DVD box set, only because back then Lucas said he would never release the "originals" on DVD, and my '87 VHS set was wearing out.

    I have the DVDs with the "originals" as well.

    But I will say Empire with the changes was good. Nothing over the top like the other 2.

    I bet if he released the originals on DVD.. they would sell out in a heartbeat.. He is just a perfectionist. I am sure if he lives another 20 years.. we will get a totally virtual version with only the voice actors

    The movies are terrible, poorly acted, disjointed messes in all their forms. I loved the original only because I was 12. Re-watching it now with my kids is painful at best.

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series is really good though. A million times better than any of the films.

    He did, in '07, IIRC. It was a 2 disk set with the new versions on disk 1 and the originals on disc 2. I think you can still find them.

    I agree on the animated Clone Wars. Those are so far, the best parts of the francise
