Here's a [sadly distant] engine bay photo
these guys say that is an OM603 under the hood. I wouldn't know....but I know the black smoke looks diesel.

I take it back. It does sound like a diesel. But only when it's idling. That's bizarre.
I wonder what it's revving to?

that is so cool, who cares is it is or if it is not diesel. its just the thought of using the faily wagon for getting sideways though. just as cool as bubba drift from a few years ago.

Thanks. I should have been more clear.
I said, "I wouldn't know", intending to declare that I would not know one Merc motor from another, and didn't know if it actually was the 603. I did know - only because I looked it up before posting - that the 603 was a diesel block.
