Funny when the cameraman gets lost trying to follow them.

Back when the NASCAR Channel was still called Speedvision, they used to show these races almost every day. It's big in Australia.

    Boats with roll cages FTW!

Notice the spectators are well back. I saw one where a boat washed out on a turn and skipped across the lawn.

They make autocross look boring. Would love to watch one of those in person. Wouldn't want to drive it though. I would be the guy skipping acorss the lawn.

The long sought-after perfect mixture of redneck and awesome exists in this thread.

Read the section titled "How the Event is Won" and you'll get the idea. It's pretty evident why a navigator is needed.

Looks like sport to be tried after:

    a) You've one the lotto
    and
    b) You've been diagnosed with a terminal disease and need a way to blow the money hast.

That looks as dangerous to the health as the TG crew driving through redneckville with "Man love rules OK' and 'Hillary for president" on their cars!

Yawn. Put a skier or wakeboarder behind them, and I'll watch.

Just kidding - that's a really interesting sport!

not sure I'd ever be able to make it through the course on my own... but sure would love to be a passenger...

They are big downunder, IIRC they out accelerate a F1 car to 60 mph, and a roll over means a new boat shell every time

makes Autocross look boring? that makes the last few minutes of Q3 of F1 qualifying or the last lap of most touring car races look boring!

The Aussie'ssay 450-600kg and up to 1200hp. So... up to 1.1lb:1hp, which is pretty motherberkeleying intense.

    That's a boat I'd love to have!

I'm wondering how long I could get away with blasting up and down the rivers in the Ozarks scaring all the drunks in canoes on float trips. (nothing against a few drunk canoers on float trips, I'm certainly one of them from time to time)

That would be a lot of fun in the Long Island Sound. These couldn't cost that much to make.

You know, I saw the thread title and thought maybe I'd see funny vids of people footracing an autocross course or something.

Between the 1200hp and the fact that boats got no brakes, maybe the title shoulda been "If you like to Autocross, but think wheels are for sissys."

Just think, instead of smashing a cone, you get to smash the hull of your boat on the bank if you get it wrong. Not to mention flying through the air...

I don't think my brain works fast enough to drive one.
