Well, it's raining in NW AR. We had our car show today We had some cancel and no-shows. Bunch of pu//ies. We finished up the show an hour or two early and moved our banquet from outside to inside. We had maybe 5 minutes of rain during the show. It started raining just as our banquet finished up. It's raining pretty good right now.

just heard from my friend in Longview, about an hour from LA and 2ish hrs from AR and he doesn't have power tonight. apparently the weather folk there downplayed Ike and he didnt prepare at all. the power co told him wed. before he'll have power.

We got 4 inches of rain here per my bucket rain guage. It must have come all at once, because the road flooded and that only happens rarely when the river goes out of its banks. We lost power at 0040 this morning and it came back about noon, so we did pretty well. Few dead limbs fell down, but that's about it.

We had 75 mph winds yesterday here in SW Ohio, lost power around 2:45pm and still don't have it back at the house (I'm at work now). Bunch of trees down but no major damage for us, will be firing up the chainsaw when I get home. No real rain either.
Of course, a lot of our local power company's linesmen went South to help out and now they are shorthanded for fixing our power and asking for help from neighboring states. Oh well....

I'm guessing you guys got the same storm that rolled through SW Indiana between 10am-noon or so. No rain, 75 mph winds, leaves and tree limbs EVERYWHERE! I had three mammoth limbs come down, and luckily miss all the cars.

Reporting in from Houston. Eye passed about 15 miles to the east of my parents house where I held up at in Spring, TX during the storm. Power was lost to almost 100% of Harris County and is only slowly coming back on. I'm posting from a closed starbucks that has power and is broadcasting wifi. My office remains closed however due to wind damage and hobby airport is closed through tomorrow, so I can't fly out to the field. Gas station lines are rediculous, so I'm just sitting tight at a buddy's apartment with power until things calm down and I can refuel my vehicles. Wish Houston luck as it repairs itself from this disaster. And god help Galveston, it could have been worse, but it was bad enough. It will take a long time before it reaches normality again.

Galleria area here, we're at the panera bread at san felipe and post oak since they have power and internet. still no power and low water pressure at our place on augusta between san felipe and woodway.

I'm here. No damage at casa de billy3esq (NW of town), but no lights either. We rode it out at home, but headed north to the DFW area to see my grandparents. Mrsbilly3 (8 months pregnant) vastly prefers air conditioning.

Got an e-mail from my grandpa earlier tonight. They live in Mont Belvieu, about 50 miles north of Galveston. One of their trees fell on their house, apparently before a really heavy wave of rainfall. This is going to be a nightmare.

And on what is probably the lightest note: Carlos Zambrano pitches a No Hitter. Why related? Because it was against the Houston Astros. Played at Miller Park. Which is really Wrigley North.

Lotsa flooded cars out there I wonder how the junkyards/ classic car owners are all gonna fair .
Insurance company nightmare I wonder when they will start treating Houston area people like Floridians ? Dropping insurance , rising rates ect....

Houston isn't as jam packed less than 20 miles from the coast like Florida is and floodplains in Houston, though problematic, tend to be less built up than in New Orleans. In any case, Galvestonians more than likely get the same treatment from the insurance companies that Navarre Beach residents get.

And we are going to see a fresh bunch of flood cars to play with. After Katrina, I saw a very nice looking 633csi for super cheap, but it had been submerged in salt water. Passed on that one.
