The goofy hats are indeed good sun protection. For a while I wore a pimp hat to autox's. Also served to keep my noggin from getting burned, but the fur was a little hot. I'm thinking of shaking things up next year with a cowboy hat.

For my next dorky sunhat, I think I'm going to find an Asian Coolie (sp?) hat.

Yes my left blinker is on, no I did not need to change lanes or turn left. There is a video of me driving for like 5 minutes while my friends can be heard making fun of me.

It's always the big safari hats and cargo shorts at autocrosses. I went one time with my dad, and as we're walking the course we noticed almost EVERYBODY had cargo shorts on. We started making fun of it, and then we looked down and realized we were wearing cargo shorts too. And it wasn't on purpose either, it was just what I grabbed out of my closet that day. Weird.

I've got 1 of the wide brimmed Bass Pro hats used 99% for autocrosses. Combine that with a 2L camelback and my transformation into "that guy" is complete

But you know what? I can be out in the GA summer sun all day and I don't get sunburned upstairs and I don't get dehydrated.

*I also wear cargo shorts at autocrosses. I can keep stuff on my person (ie, in pockets) and not have to empty my pockets to squeeze into the Krikeys in the race car

The key is to not forget pants with the "awesome" hat. Or just get a bigger hat.
