Any experience? I dubious to some of the claims. I can do the math on what it would cost to run a 1500 watt heater 24 hours a day. Do they cycle on and off? Heat as much space as they say? Any real world users out there?

I ran a plant in Ontario a few years back, and our tool shop was heated with IR tubes. They worked very well, although we didn't track the gas consumption.The guys would work in there with the 12x12 overhead door wide open in the dead of winter. The building was just cinder block walls, flat wood deck with 2" of foam insulation under the asphalt roofing. It worked like a charm.

We've got one like this.
It does a good job of knocking the chill off in a room rather than having to heat the entire house. The wife gets cold sometimes and has been known to shoot the thermostat up to 75 degrees and leave it there. Now she can just warm the one room and leave the rest of the house at 65. Does it save money, maybe a little. It makes me less pissed off about the thermostat setting, so it's worth it.
