Ok, there's no freaking reason this should be this difficult. How do I delete pictures from my iPod touch. My kids have been taking pictures of anything and everything and I'd like those 2.2 gigs back. I love apple, but why the heck can't I just delete them? I synch the device every now and then as new apps are added or deleted, but where the heck are the pictures? I've looked in the preferences folder to see if they are on my computer somewhere but I have no idea where stuff is.
I'm usually "one of those guys" singing the praises of apple, but if this is really as stupid as it seems, I'll let you windows guys have a free crack at apple, I won't even defend them this time.

    Thanks.

Open the picture on the iPod and click the trash button in the upper right corner?

^^ X301? I don't think so. There are directions on the 'net that say to sync it, delete the photo's out of the folder on the computer, then sync again. Well, that doesn't freaking work, and after syncing, there are no pics on the computer anyway.
I've never dealt with a computer issue soo assinine since I had to learn FrameMaker.
But thanks for the help Rob, I should have been more specific and said I want to delete all of them.

My 11-year-old son's instructions: Open the Photo app

    Enter the Camera Roll album

Touch the icon that's a rectangle with an arrow in it

Select the photos to be deleted, then touch the red Delete button at the bottom

Confirm by touching Delete Selected Items

Does your boy know how to do all 301 at once?

if you have syncing enabled on your computer, i dont know why you would you can change the setting to either manual manage music and photos or set it so it doesnt sync pictures. You can do this in iTunes with iPod connected. What I would do on my ipod is manually manage all my data and when its set like that in itunes you can delete things off the ipod from there and then as you buy new stuff or add new music just manually drag it into the ipod

Oh, I guuess where Ive found pictures was when I clicked the ipod thing in my itunes, i was able to sort of see all the contents and stuff. There were also tabs when I was changing ipod preferences in itunes about music and photos and stuff.

If you set to manually manage all your stuff, no syncing, if it comes down to it, you could delete everything off it then just put your music/movies whatever you want on it

The way I/he described is the only "fast" way on the device itself, in that you can select the photos to delete and then batch delete vs viewing and deleting individual photos. I think if you connect it to iTunes you may be able to delete them all off the device but I'm not sure.

Speaking of iTunes, stupid thing had a sync error and deleted all 680-something songs off my iPhone. I manually manage the music (shared account, I don't want all the kids' music on my i-device) so I have to put it all back on. Grrrrrrr....

    In reply to pigeon:

If you and your kids share an itunes, it might not be a bad idea to make a folder with your music so if it happens again you just have all the stuff you want in 1 place, rather than sorting through the whole library. Then its a nonissue to put your music on your ipod

Like most Apple stuff, it works wonderfully as long as you sync to another Apple product, in this case iPhoto.

If you simply sync with your computer using iTunes, you have to specify whether or not you want to sync photos, and if so, to where. On a PC I am guessing the default is within the iTunes folder. (Media? Photos?)

Most computers will also recognize the iPod as a camera/external drive if you ignore iTunes. Then you can simply copy and delete what you want.

That's not a bad idea, but it also forces me to sort through my collection from time to time, not a bad thing overall.
