Hmmmmmm.
Tasty!
Epic want.
Ohhh yes.
how much does that engine weigh?
In reply to GrantMLS:
I don't know, but the TR-6 engine weight is almost identical to a Ford 5.0 with aluminum heads. It's a real boat anchor, and not very strong (it was originally a tractor engine). The BMW engine I would guess is lighter and mucho bettero.
looks great in there - add me to the list that wants it
I wish the wheels were so big but otherwise tasty.
needs more turboboosters.
[English accent] Bloody brilliant, Man!!! [/end English accent]
Just a set of wheels (and maybe smaller brakes?) away from pure awesomeness. the roll bar/cage would be pretty scary without padding and a helmet. Not sure I'd like the idea of driving it on the street as is, but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity.
I will say I really doubt it sounds as good as the Triumph lump. A Triumph six with triple Webers sounds kinda like an automotive orgasm.
I'm not sure if you're saying that's not Grassroots because it is more of a CMS-type car or because it looks like a top-notch build. Either way, it's cool as heck and would be at home in either mag.
Oh man... that is awesome. I have one of those motors on the stand right now...

In reply to Per Schroeder:
My guess is the price tag. I think it comes down to the nebulous definition of grassroots. As we seem to like to discuss every few weeks it means different things to different people.
whoa!
You could probably pull this off on a decently cheap budget if you found a wrecked M3 (or if that's an M50 with a gratuitous M badge swapped on).
Saw a very similar build at the Mitty that uses an M20 motor instead. I really did a double take when I walked past it.

It's the $40k price tag on that particular one that makes it not so grassroots to me - but, there are $1000 dollar TR6s out there and cheap bmw drivetrains...come to think of it, I've got a cheap TR4 in the garage with a questionable engine. Thank God GPS doesn't live close by
Then again, this one was built by a guy - not a pro shop. So he might have put it together using spare change from his sofa as far as I know...

If so, I'd like a few minutes alone to dig around in his sofa.
Honestly thinking about it I don't understand the engine choice there are more powerful engines available for less money and there are better sounding engines for less money.
here's the photobucket site of the build
There's plenty of SBC/SBF TR6s - so I'm digging that he took the not so obvious route to doubling a TR's power.
In reply to oldtin:
I was thinking more along the lines of Supra Turbo engine.
After that article in the mag about the 356, I'm not sure what's "Grassroots" anymore.
I mean, dude built it himself, so that's in with the Grassroots theme, but damn, I kept flipping to the front cover to see if I was reading CMS instead.

Yeah, same here. The BMW race car (sorry, mag isn't in front of me) was beyond grassroots to me, so is the LeGrand. Cool yes, but grassroots, not so much. I do enjoy reading about them though.
