I heard one of the talking heads discussing how pot was a "Gateway drug" the other day, and it got me thinking: Why?

Breast milk is a "gateway drug" too, if you think about it.

Marijuana became illegal after a '30s campaign lied blatantly about its effects. There is no doubt the drug ruins some lives but alcohol ruins far more and it's legal. People get liquored up and want to fight. People smoke weed and want to watch the liquored-up people fight. Ultimately, which one is worse? We tried banning booze but look how well that worked out.

For the record, I neither smoke nor drink. However, I see the billions of dollars spent enforcing a policy that's unenforceable. Want to talk about the cost of health care some more? How about the cost of prohibition?

Make it legal and tax the crap out of it, just like butts and booze.

You might not want to tax it too much... it's pretty easy to grow.

Certainly easier to make than cigarettes or booze.

Legalizing and taxing butts is another thread-worthy topic. It's been an issue lots longer than the booze fiasco.

^ See that? I wrote that on purpose and you picked it up. I am not only looking to score points, I 'm looking to dish the rock to my teammates too.

Come to Southern California, no liquor on state or city beaches for most of the coast. No exemptions.

WOW! Why would anyone go to the beach then?

Google "California beach girls"... I will wait.
