Did they really blow up an E-Type Coupe at the end?

    What the hell.

Don't you know the rules? Old car + movie = destruction of said car.

Who cares! It was key to Jason Statham's success and you don't mess with that.

It was about the only thing carried over from the original version which starred Charles Bronson and Jan Michael Vincent..

It would have been a prettied up rust bucket.

Like most things, the original was much, much better. But, I also think Bronson> Chuck Norris. Chuck kicks everyone's azz- but works up a sweat- Bronson just blows them away! flounder over

I misread the title as "The Machinist". Damn he got skinny.

    ^Yeah, me too actually.

I think The Machinist is a really cool, unnerving film for about 3/4 of the way through. Then it gets a bit silly and predictable.

As a kid I only watched movies for the cool car content. When I first heard of 'The Mechanic' I thought is was actually about a gear head.

I thought the new Mechanic sucked. Actually Jason Stratham has been turning out a series of suck movies. I think I'm done bothering with his stuff. Too bad, as he had some good ones there for a while, like those driver ones. I think now he's like "I need some bucks," grabs first script off the desk, hands to someone else, "Here, this one." The last one I saw about some hit team or something was so stoopid, it was almost funny. Killer Elite or something. Go after the SAS and yet not smart enough to think they might go after you before you get there. Uh-huh.

"It was the only thing carried over from the original..."

I guess The Mechanic I saw all those years ago was a different one. In the movie I saw (Charles Bronson and Jan Michael Vincent) JM Vincent gets into a Mustang in the final scene and the Mustang blows up. I always figured that one of the many differences between Mr. Bronson's character in the movie and Mr. Vincent's was that the "up and comer" didn't have any taste....was just a "kid" to the "cultured older man" portrayed by Bronson. The "kid", even in the updated movie, wouldn't drive a Jag.

Nope same one, they blew up the same person's car for the same result. I did not mean the same make and model, that would be odd and besides our star in this one is British, so the Jag makes more sense.

    Spoiler alert

Note: I am avoiding ruining the plot for anyone who yet to see it. Both movies have different results though in the first Bronson's character does not survive.

Yeah, I agree with Dr. Hess. Too bad, cause Jason Statham is dead hot.

    Check out "Blitz."

    Pretty awesome, in my opinion.
