Drill sharpening. Do any of those fancy dancy drill sharpeners work? I've always done mine myself, but my eye sight isn't what it used to be and sharpening smaller bits gets aggrevating. So tell me, is there a better way?

There was a thread on this within the last couple of weeks...

Never tried one. The idea sounds good, but can you match the proper pitch angle for each bit or is it one set angle?

Drill Doctor. I've tried several other kinds (cheap HF kinda things) and never got them to work. DD works well. The money it saves me is in the time it would take me to go to the store to buy another drill bit. Except for the big drill bits, as sharpening about 5 of those would about pay for the DD.

    In reply to Dr. Hess:

    Does it take good eyes?

No, it's pretty easy to use. It has a holder thingie. Put it in the holder thingie, put the holder thingie in the side with the button pushed, let go of the button and fingers grab the bit, then tighten the holder thingie and it's ready to move to the grinder thingie. Just spin it around in the grinder thingie until it stops making noise. It's sharp then. You can optionally add a split point after that by pushing the holder thingie in the other side.

Kind of like a pencil sharpener?

No, not really. I'm sure there's some vids on youtube or or the DD web page. Google them up.
