    Not a canoe!

But with a title like that...

Anyway, I have some friends who are getting married in December in Negril, Jamaica. The resort is Beaches: Sandy Bay. I'm broke, my girlfriend is broke.

Is it cheaper to buy now or wait till the resort gets desperate? The bride to be insists that prices go up as you wait later, because the cheap rooms get bought up.

    Any truth to this?

Truth to both sides. I used to work in the timeshare industry, and for something like that, the only way you're getting a halfway decent deal is booking 2 years in advance, or 2 weeks out, last minute.

It has more to do with the date in this case, though. You'll be fighting to get anything last minute in December. When in December, may i ask?

You might be ok waiting... but i'm not sure i'd take that kind of a chance on a wedding, especially since you're already planning oh.... a year and a half too late.

The upside is that it's the week before the crazy Holiday booking time.

Waiting that long is a good way to end up without a spot.

My wife and I like to go during the week of THanksgiving. A few weeks ago some places were already booked up that week.

I'll ask my wife, and report back.

She is to travel, like some of us are to cars, and bikes. She could easily write for grassroots travel magazine
