I've got a single outdoor faucet on the back of my house and some plants that need more water than I give them manually watering them.

1) That outdoor faucet needs replaced due to a stripped handle. We have to turn it on/off with a pair of pliers.

2) I'd like to have a Y so I can use the hose manually one side and a timer on the other side running a timed drip/sprayer system.

3) I'll probably bury the hose as it'll be relatively short.

Any suggestions?

Some rip-off artist recently quoted us $750 to install a small drip system. I say artist loosely, 'cause that was as clumsy as a newborn calf.

Anyway, someone else suggested just having a short soaker hose with a timer on it, which is probably the way we'll go since the watering season is very short where it will be working. Maybe something for you to consider, as well.

I've got a similar setup for my garden this year, Y at the faucet with one side free and the other running to the soaker hose in the garden. Just haven't added the timer yet, but I might do that before we get too far into the really hot/dry months. I got a cheap soaker hose kit at LowesDepot (I think it was a Miracle Grow brand) that came with like 100' of bulk hose and an assortment of fittings. Think it was like $25 and let's you pretty much configure it how you want. It's worked great so far.

I have something like what you're describing...

You need something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Orbit-Single-Programmable-Standard-Packaging/dp/B004INGS8S/ref=sr_1_ 8?ie=UTF8&qid=1498263887&sr=8-8&keywords=drip+system

And something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Koram-IR-D-Distribution-Watering-4-Inches/dp/B013JPIJG4/ref=pd_sim_86_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B013JPIJG4&pd_rd_r=40WE8XNZEPG6YZWQTA57&pd_rd_w=CB8LF&pd_rd_wg=4SLPs&psc=1&refRID=40WE8XNZEPG6YZWQTA57

And something like this: https://www.amazon.com/2wayz-Metal-Splitter-Newly-Upgraded/dp/B019MS0HK8/ref=pd_bxgy_86_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B019MS0HK8&pd_rd_r=84X6ZVAN3EQ54XYQ9R09&pd_rd_w=VbxLN&pd_rd_wg=LN0KI&psc=1&refRID=84X6ZVAN3EQ54XYQ9R09

There are of course fancier ways to do this as well.
