Took the D40 to Asheville. I'm starting to get used to it. I guess.

Good looking shot you got there ignorant. What lens was this taken with?

    Thanks...

I was just messing around. It was with the kit lens 18-55.

I just got lucky on that shot.

http://picasaweb.google.com/RussWylie/AshevilleThanksgiving2008#5274638088347724162 <-- now look at that.. How would you eliminate the Lens Flare there?

I guess the obvious answer is to move or wait for different light.

Cause I thought those trumpet creeper were cool as hell.

http://picasaweb.google.com/RussWylie/AshevilleThanksgiving2008# <-- rest of pictures there. The new to me Nikon D40 took pics all the way to the land rovers and my Panasonic point and shoot took the rest. Still mostly just snapshot type stuff. Kinda just fooling around.

You can really tell the difference in the cameras on inside shots..

Whoa that tree is freakin cool looking! Yeah that is some nasty flare, the two things I would try when doing a shot like that when waiting isn't an option, first is use a hood, but with the direction I doubt that would help. Another technique I have used to help eliminate flare is to shade the lens using my hat, looks kinda goofy sometimes and you basically need 3 arms at that point but it works.

It is amazing how good that cheapo lil 18-55 is. That is a very beautiful place you went to, some great photo opportunities there by the looks of it.
