Since when does Grainger give deals? And this is a DEAL!! I just sold a Millermatic 175, very similar, but 6 years old for 500.00.

I've been wanting to get a welder for the longest time.

Wow on the grainger deal. They also have the 140 setup with cart and everything for $332 (I want a 110 machine so I can use it anywhere). I'd been considering buying Eastwood's inexpensive MIG, but this is a real Miller for less. I pounced on it for a grand total of $349 shipped to my local Grainger outlet. Hope this doesn't turn out to be a mistake or something, and all the orders get cancelled.

Edit: Well, I just got a call from my local Grainger letting me know that the welder should be coming in 5-7 business days, and they'll call me when it shows up, so it sounds good so far.

The local Grainger in Canada wants $1392 for the same welder. Anyone here from Buffalo want to make some money picking one up for me? I can pick it up on a weekend. ;)

Ah, thanks Purple! I forgot to mention that they have non-degree, non-certification classes that are 1 weeknight per week. So they will be max-practice, just learn-how classes.

This is what I did. My class was mainly MIG but we also spent a few nights on TIG. It was one night a week, the cost was pretty minimal we had a good instructor and there was plenty of time spent at the bench actually welding - if I remember correctly, each night there was about a half hour of classroom time followed by 2 1/2 hours in the shop.

Mind if I ask where you took the class? Obviously we're in the same area, i'd like to get into that sometime.
