With the advent of new glass and touchscreen technology, do I really need a screen protector? DroidX, no matter what protector I put on it it just doesn't feel as nice as a bare screen. Thoughts? Tech?

I'm interested in this topic, but I have nothing of value to add. My wife's got an ipad and the screen seems to be holding up fine without the protector. Seems like it would be okay unless you take it to the beach. Sand and sunscreen would probably mess it up.

My blackberry 8330 has never had a screen protector, and now after 2 years it's pretty scratched up. next one will run a protector. I'm just to rough on things.

It's constantly in my pocket with keys, screwdrivers, etc

I'm pretty rough on phones as I run a landscape contra ting business and am in or near dirt and sand all day. I've gone through several blackberries, the screens would get scratched to the point where I could not read the phone unless I was in a dark room. I now have an iPhone with an Otter box. I'm going on 2 years and the phone is perfect as well as the box itself. I highly recommend the Otterbox, it makes the phone somewhat bigger but it has saved my phone countless times. I've never really used the iPhone "naked" so I can't speak to the difference in feel between bare glass and the otterbox's plastic although the plastic does not bother me.

I have not specifically used a Droid X so I have little input of real experience, but...

I guess I really hadn't taken into account long-term use... Maybe I should keep using them.
The Otterbox is on my list of accessories...

Right before the warrenty runs out, throw it against a wall. I hate using the screen protectors. I have Nokia touchy phone and I have replace the protector about three times. I really dont care for replacing them, it only on there to protec the screen, they never look right. After a few with them on there you will notice all the new scratches.
