That was pretty cool! 

Semi-related, we were able to see the recent Boeing test launch from all they way north near Raleigh. Clear skies and perfect timing with the sunrise, so we were still in the dark but the rocket was in the sun. You could clearly see the contrail, booster exhaust, shutdown, and separation.

Some of my pics from today's launch. The original launch window opened at 8:00, so I planned to leave before 7:00 since it's an hour drive. The delay until 10:30 meant that I had time to stop for gas, eat a sit-down breakfast, and hit the ATM. Very cool experience.

And some equipment specs: Images taken with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens with a 1.4x converter on a 7D MkII, so I had some crop factor working for me. Very cool experience.
