So it's really time to consider replacing the Turbo Voyager and getting another van. This will become my daily driver, since in order to afford it I will have to sell the Prelude as well. I have settled on the second gen (1999-2004) Honda Odyssey. I like the body style and that year range gets it into my price range which is about 5-7k.

Worrisome thing is the transmission issues that they are known to have. Upside is that the Voyager I have now was also known for transmission problems and has been dead reliable for years with the original transmission still intact. Wait for it - it will probably fall out tomorrow after typing something like that on the internets.

I also like the '95-'05 Chevy Astros but most of the ones around here are old cruddy work vans and I am really looking for a comfy but quick daily driver. I'm also diggin' the GMC Safari, but there's not very many of those around.

I am interested to hear your thought and experiences, things I should be looking for and asking about when I go to check some out. I am trying to avoid the dealers in the area and find private sellers to deal with.

    Thanks!

We have been real happy with our Chevy Venture. It just rolled over 170,000 miles and other than the lower intake manifold gaskets at about 150K and the AC this year it had been super reliable. My sister has been real happy with her Honda. My guess is if you take care of it, it doesn't matter what you buy. The Chevy's are a good bit cheaper than the Honda's. You might be able to go up a few years and down a few miles with them.

Our '03 Ody has been pretty much trouble free at 64K.

I know of a few people that had 2nd gens that got their transmissions replaced even after warranty.

We had an '01 with no probs, save for the automatic doors that were wonky sometimes.

    Easy fix.

Honda sent us something about an extended warranty on the trans.
