    So I shot a FN FAL today. Holy crap that gun is so much more awesome to shoot then an AR15.

    I was aware that FN made some interesting weapons. Then I popped over to their website.

    I really don't understand why the military uses the 5.56 over the 7.62. The 7.62 is a so much better round.

    Was it an FN or a Century reman one? Just wondering-been looking at the century line-up lately.

    Weight and size. You can pack a soldier with a lot more ammo.

    I'd also heard that one of the advantages of 5.56 is that it isn't quite as lethal, that it's more likely to injure rather than kill. An injured soldier ties up more resources than a dead soldier. I could be wrong on that one. Weight is a big issue.

    Aaaand you would be wrong. The Russian stuff is designed that way, because We Care. Commies didn't much concern themselves with the wounded.

    FN makes good stuff. I've got an FNP-40, and am sloooowly saving for an FNAR.

    My Rock River Arms LAR-8 (AR-10) uses FAL .308 clips.

    FN originals are collector items and are spendy as all getout, but I'm rather fond of the US made DSA item. They use the same tooling FN used to make them in the first place.
