It was a misunderstanding. He's not dead. He was found in the childrens ward having a stroke.

I am sort of wondering whether it'll be an open or closed casket. Seriously. Can you imagine being the guy charged with "making him look natural."
Will there be a "Please don't poke the nose" sign in front of the casket?

What is Michael Jackson expecting for Christmas?

agreed, the 24/7 coverage gets old, but no one else was able in the history of popular music to achieve what he did
its unfortunate he stopped churning out #1s back in '01, but his stuff on thriller and after is awesome (and I am not generally a pop fan)
he was the LAST superstar...ipods, MP3s and limewire have changed the industry and no one will EVER be as big...not for lack of talent of more recent artistis, but the music consumers just dont care anymore.
The kid jokes are lame, get over it , the haters are tards...both families who accused him were also accusers of others that came up false...greed makes people into scum. He was weird, but you would be too if you lived his life. You dont have to respect his personality (I kinda dont), but if you dont respect his work, youre deaf, blind, and more than mildly retarded

This weekend I heard a somewhat jokey but largely accurate summation of Michael Jackson's life on "A Prairie Home Companion," of all places. Garrison Keillor said something to the effect of, "He shared all of the same fears most of us have--fear of dying, fear of not having any fun in life, fear of being bored, fear that his own nose was ugly--and was cursed with enough money to try to solve them."
He was weird, no doubt, but has anyone else been flipping to the VH1 24-hr Michael Jackson videos this weekend? Katie saw him dance in the "Bad" video and said, "Oooh... I get it."

I can remember seeing Thriller and Billie Jean videos as a kid of only 4. Thriller scared me to death, but it was that good scared like any actual horror film would scare a tot. Billie Jean was just cool, and I still hold that as my favorite MJ song. When he moonwalked on tv in 85, I was hooked...coolest thing I'd ever seen (although up to that time,I had really only ever watched sesame street and Mr. Rogers, so I could really only compare it to trolleys and puppets). Somewhere my mom has an old polaroid of me in aviators, an unbuttoned oxford shirt thats 4 sizes too big for a 5 yr old, some black pants rolled up and white socks w/black loafers...I was the coolest kid I knew back then

I'll bet Corey Feldman is devastated.
He was completely obsessed and could have been MJ's doppelganger back in the day.

He mentioned 'Michael Jackson' and 'rammed through' in the same post.

Not as devastated as Justin Timberlake; where else is he going to get his moves?

imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Its all relative...MJ got a lot of his stuff from James brown, modern rock bands steal everything from Zepplin, no one gives aggressive Nascar drivers grief for driving like Ernhart Sr...Everyones got a role model

All joking aside, I am not particularly a fan of his music but there is no denying that he had tremendous talent. He must have been one tortured individual. That's a sad way to live if you think about it.

Ditto. It hardly bears thinking about.

Zeppelin stole almost everything from old bluesmen.

I'm not sure about the word 'stole'. They certainly used and built on what the old blues guys had done, but that's evolution.
A guy who used to work for me was a music student and I mentioned that I was (and still am) a big Pink Floyd fan. He pointed out that a LOT of PF's music included 'movements' from many of the 'classical' musicians, just with different emphasis and volume. At that time, I thought PF was bleeding edge and all new; not quite.
